As a pluricentric language, German is an official language in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy (South Tyrol), Luxembourg, Belgium (East Cantons) and Liechtenstein. The varieties of German spoken in the respective countries can sometimes differ drastically. At times, the differences can be so extensive that certain common expressions used specifically in one country cannot be understood at all in other German-speaking countries. These differences are particularly prominent in the legal sphere and in colloquial language, which makes it all the more important for translators and interpreters to know which region the target text is intended for before starting the work. Only then can they guarantee accurate use of terminology.

Qualified German translators
We guarantee consistently high quality by complying with strict qualification criteria when selecting our translators and then adhering to the Four Eyes principle. Our highly qualified translators have excellent knowledge of their source and target languages. On top of that, our translators are also well versed in the terminology and linguistic conventions of their specialist field.
All translations are subject to a three-stage quality check. After the translator has completed the translation, it is compared with the source text by a skilled revisor and checked to ensure it is complete, grammatically correct, stylistically appropriate and that the terminology is consistent. Before being delivered to the client, the translation is checked once more by a project manager to ensure it is complete and that the translator and proofreader have followed the project specifications.
Sworn Translations English ↔ German
In addition to ISO 17100 certified specialist translations, Translation Agency Vienna | Connect Translations Austria also offers English - German sworn translations. Sworn translations are carried out by Austrian court interpreters. As the court interpreter has to confirm the exact correspondence of the translation with the original through a certification form, their signature and a round seal, there will be no proofreading by a second translator. The costs for sworn translations are calculated according to the number of lines in the target language.
Translator German – Costs
The costs for German specialist translations are calculated based on the number of words in the source language. Our prices are always flat rate prices with no ifs and no buts. For larger translation projects in which many sections of text are repeated or for which consistent terminology is paramount, we use CAT tools with which we can increase work speeds by up to 50%. On top of this, cost reductions of up to 70% are also possible in many cases. Further information on this can be found here.
Interpreter German ↔ English
The German English simultaneous interpreters (conference interpreters) and consecutive interpreters (escort interpreters and liaison interpreters) of our interpreting agency in Vienna do not only interpret from English but also from and into other languages. For example, our English professionally trained interpreters’ working languages include Arabic, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Dutch (Hollandic and Flemish), French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Slovakian, Slovenian and Spanish.
German Interpreters – Costs
The price for interpreting assignments usually comprises several components. In addition to the fee for the interpreters, in some cases there will also be travel expenses, accommodation and food costs and – for longer journeys – compensation for time spent travelling. For short assignments (e.g. interpreting for the signing of a contract at a notary’s or lawyer’s office), a minimum fixed price will be applied to cover all of the components. For simultaneous interpreting, the interpreters always work in teams of two. You can find more information about the prices for our interpreting services here.
Interpreting equipment – Technical conference equipment – Renting portable interpretation systems
At our interpreting agency in Vienna, you can rent the latest interpreting equipment (interpreting booths, public address systems, headphones, etc.), portable interpretation systems, discussion equipment and the latest conference and event equipment. We also work with professional partners from the technical industry so on-site technical support is readily available.
