Preparing for the project
The translation order is allocated to a suitable team (translators and proofreaders). In doing this, we consider project-specific requirements (target audience, subject field, language pair, etc.) as well as the qualifications of the translators and proofreaders in accordance with our ISO 17100-certification. In cases of projects that are to involve the use of CAT tools, all the necessary technical preparations (terminological databases, translation memory) are completed.

Translation/first quality check
In order to guarantee a high quality standard, the translator completes a quality check before passing their translation on to the proofreader. The translator checks for the following:
- Compliance with any terminology provided by the customer
- Semantic accuracy und lexical cohesion
- Appropriate syntax, spelling, punctuation, diacritical marks and other orthographical conventions of the target language
- Compliance with any style guides provided by the customer
- Suitability for the target group and the purpose stated by the customer
Revision by a second translator/second quality check (Four Eyes Principle)
The text revision required by ISO 17100 goes beyond the “simple” proofreading of a text. During the revision, the translation and the source text (original text) are compared and the translation is checked for the following aspects and corrected, if necessary:
- Content conformity with the original, comprehensibility and completeness
- Compliance with any terminology provided by the customer
- Appropriate syntax, spelling, punctuation, diacritical marks and other orthographical conventions of the target language
- Consistently uniform formatting and spelling
- Suitability for the target group and the stated purpose (informative, descriptive, narrative, explicative, argumentative); correct wording, appropriate style

Verification and approval from the project manager/third quality check
Before delivering the translation to the customer, the project manager will check the following points and clarify any discrepancies or uncertainties with the translator and proofreader:
- Completeness
- Compliance with the project specifications (style, terminology, consistency, etc.)
- QA check using a CAT tool (spelling, numbers, terminology, etc.)
- Checking the formatting

Delivery of our ISO 17100-certified services takes place via a secure, password protected link to our customer portal myConnect. At the customer’s request, we can also deliver the translation by e-mail. However, we would like to point out that delivery via e-mail may incur certain security risks.
