Transcription of Interviews

If oral utterances are to be recorded in writing at a later point in time, this is referred to as a transcription. Transcriptions of audio files or videos are an effective tool in a variety of situations and are in great demand as such. For this reason the Translation Agency Vienna | Connect Translations Austria GmbH offers professional transcription of interviews for several different languages.

Transcription and translation of interviews & other audio and film files

There are many reasons why interviews need to be transcribed, ranging from minutes of a meeting to witness hearings in a legal context that need to be recorded in writing in order to be archived.

There are two types of transcribed interviews: edited and verbatim transcripts:

  • Edited or purified transcripts only reproduce the content of the interview. Heckling, slips of the tongue and pauses are ignored in this type of transcript.
  • Verbatim transcripts, on the other hand, reproduce every single utterance, including hesitations, stuttering and slips of the tongue.

The type of transcription suitable for a particular audio file depends very much on the general circumstances and the intended use of the transcription. If the audio file was created in an official context, we recommend a verbatim transcription.

Transcription of interviews + translation

In addition to the mere transcription of interviews, the Translation Agency Vienna | Connect Translations Austria GmbH also offers translations of (already) transcribed audio files or videos.

The price of a transcription is calculated based on the length of the audio file or the film document (DVD, video, etc.) to be transcribed. The price of the translation of the transcript is calculated based on the number of words.
